Nature, Outdoors, Fresh Air, Movement, Breathing, Meditation are my Inspirations

artist statement

My work is inspired greatly by simple concepts. I have been an old school guy since childhood. I have always appreciated the old, vintage, classic, simple things in life. I am inspired by the great artists; Rembrandt, Michelangelo , Da Vinci, Picasso etc, etc … Photographers who have inspired me most are; Horst, Irving Penn, George Hurrell, Arnold Newman, and Henri Cartier-Bresson. Being an old school type, I embrace technology, but only to the point that it allows me to use my own thoughts and expressions. I don’t want it to control or think for me. At times, it is very frustrating to capture an image the way my mind and eyes see it. Patience is all. Simplicity rules. Great images cannot be made, timing is everything. The decisive moment rules.

I will often retire to nature to clear my head. I am a devout Roman Catholic and often pray to the Lord God for strength and wisdom. He is my prime inspiration. I also use movement practice such as; breathing practice, martial arts, calisthenics and the cold water to keep me heathy in mind and body..

I enjoy all types of photography. Be it food, landscape, people, weddings or things. It is all about connecting with the subject. Waiting for it to give you something, and being ready to grab it.

I am commissioned by businesses, magazines and artists to photograph a variety of subject matter including; portraits, musicians, food, product, live events, wedding, and documentary stories (long and short term). I am available for travel nationally and internationally.

My work has been published in regional, national and international magazines, websites and books.

Magazines including; Orange Magazine, Guitar Player, Wine Spectator, Seventeen, Muscle & Fitness, Hudson Valley Magazine, Westchester Magazine, Home and Garden, International Watch, Penz, Wag, Vintage Guitar and many other in-house publications and brochures, and menus etc.
